In his 16 September 2014 message to the SAP chairman and upcoming Prime Minister of Sweden, the EPDP chairman, Mr. Menghesteab Asmerom, stated his belief in the commitment and proven capability of the Swedish Social Democratic Party in drawing yet another much better future for Sweden as the party did in most parts of the past 80 years.
The EPDP congratulatory message seized the opportunity to brief Mr. Loefven on the ever worsening situation in Eritrea, stressing that “the only choice left for friends of our country is to empower other Eritrean non-state actors as democratic alternative in post dictatorship Eritrea”.

The EPDP chairman also once more expressed his party’s deep gratitude to the 37th Congress of the Swedish Social Democratic Party that adopted two strong resolutions in regard to Eritrea. The two resolutions expressed the Swedish party’s resolve to fight against the illegal money collections of the Eritrean regime from diaspora Eritreans and pledged to support Eritrean democratic organizations that have the potential of becoming alternative democratic forces to reshape post-dictatorship Eritrea.
It is to be recalled that EPDP delegation met with Mr. Loefven the SAP International Secretary, Ms Ann Linde, in October 2013 during a meeting of the Progressive Alliance in Stockholm. The EPDP was told by Mr. Loefven to count on SAP’s support in the ongoing struggle for change and democratization in Eritrea.
