EPDP Branches in Europe Hold 3rd Continental Congress in Frankfurt
2016-08-22 06:24:25 Written by EPDP Information Office Published in EPDP News Read 2574 timesOpened by a welcoming statement of the preparatory committee, the congress started its functions with an address by the Europe-Zone chairman, Mr. Isaak Woldemariam, who asked a minute's silence to pay tribute to colleagues Ms Tsada and Alazar Kelete who passed away since the last continental congress. The zone chairman outlined the achievements scores and challenges faced by the Europe zone during the past few years.
Following this, Mr. Tesfai Woldemichael (Degiga), head of the EPDP Organizational Affairs Office, delivered an inspiring and enlightening speech to the congress highly commending the party branches in Europe for their committed struggle as the central nerve and backbone of the party in all aspects. He urged all the party branches in UK, the Scandinavian countries, Germany, Holland, France and Switzerland to redouble their efforts, renew working relationships and tighten up their belts for the final push towards a resounding success of the current struggle for democratic change.
After receiving all relevant reports by the outgoing leadership, the congress elected a congress secretariat chaired by Mr. Andezion Ghirmai. After deliberations and necessary changes, the reports were adopted and the outgoing leadership congratulated for its being able to overcome all the challenges faced during its tenure.
The third congress adopted its work plan and resolved its renewed commitment to do more in the ongoing struggle for democratic change in Eritrea.
Congress paid unreserved tribute to the selfless and untiring party leadership and asked for increased efforts to bring together all forces struggling for democratic change in Eritrea so that the untold suffering of our victimized youth and the population in general could be stopped soonest.
Before ending its session with another moment of silence in memory of Eritrean martyrs, the congress elected a 7-person leadership and two reserve members that included youth and women.
