Second-Day Deliberations of EPDP-ENS/Hidri Congress Adopt Party Political Programme

Second day deliberations of the 3rd  and Unity Congress of the Eritrean People’s Democratic Party (EPDP) and the Eritrean National Salvation/Hidri opened on 29 July  in Wiesbaden, Germany, observed a moment of silence and sent a condolence message to the Mayor of Frankfurt and the family of the 8-year old boy who died on Monday in a train accident caused by a 40-year old Eritrean refugee from Zurich, Switzerland.

The condolence message from the congress venue expressed shock and deep sympathies with the parents of the victim and the German people as a whole and wished speedy recovery to the mother who was injured in the accident.   The congress condolence message was later covered by reporters of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, one of Germany’s biggest daily newspapers.

Second Day Deliberations of Congress 12 The unity congress in Wiesbaden took full-day discussing the 26-page Political Programme of the unified party which was mutually agreed and decided to be called the EPDP.

The congress on Monday, 29 July, adopted the party constitution following a colourful  opening session in the morning hours that was attended by the chairman of the Eritrean National Council for Democratic Change (ENCDC) representing 18 political organizations and representative of the Eritrean National Front (ENF), a regrouping of four organizations.  

The congress delegates are scheduled to continue their deliberations till Thursday, 1st August 2019, and then attend a three-day Eritrea Festival in Frankfurt between 2 and 4 August inside Frankfurt.
