In yet another memorandum in support of Eritrean asylum seekers stranded in Israel, the Eritrean People's Democratic Party (EPDP) urged the African state of Rwanda  not to collaborate with the right-wing government in Israel against African asylum seekers in that country, a vast majority of them Eritreans.

In a memorandum sent on 28 February 2018 to the Rwandan Government through its foreign minister, Ms Louise Mushikiwabo, the EPDP asked Rwanda to kindly desist from the alleged relation with Israel in trading asylum seekers for money. "If the allegation is confirmed", the memorandum added that "it will be a lasting scar of shame and  indignity" on Rwandans who stood against discriminatory systems like apartheid.

The message expressed profound satisfaction with the substantial support to refugees by Israeli citizens and civic activists but added that Eritreans in the opposition camp are "very much discouraged and dismayed by the reported willingness of the Rwandan Government to receive those stranded refugees against cash payments from Israel".

The EPDP finally appealed to the Rwandan Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and the Government of Rwanda to join other countries and organizations in finding a just solution to the helpless African and Eritrean refugees living under the threat of blind expulsion or indefinite imprisonment in Israel.

The memorandum was copied to the Chairman of the African Union Commission, Mr. Moussa Faki Mahamat, and to the UNHCR High Commissioner, Mr. Filippo Grandi.
